EV Cable & Battery Pack Protection
A traction pack puts abrasion, heat and voltage on the same conductor run. Orange flame retardant heat shrink for EV cables is the visible part of the job; the dielectric duty belongs to the pack design, and this page keeps the two apart.

The problem this page solves
In a battery pack the sleeve has to do mechanical work: protect a conductor from an enclosure edge, keep a bundle away from a module face, survive the vibration of a vehicle and stay identifiable. Orange is the industry convention for high-voltage cabling, and it is usually specified rather than optional.
The electrical duty is different, and it is not delivered by the sleeve. System dielectric performance depends on the conductor geometry, the clearances, whether the path is air or potted, and the enclosure, and it is calculated by your engineering team for the whole system.
That distinction matters when a supplier offers a blanket qualification for 800 V or 1000 V. Ask which test backs it and at what geometry. We publish component ratings only, and we confirm the component against your calculation rather than claim the system.
- Edge and clip abrasion : the wall is cut through where a bundle crosses an enclosure edge or is held by a clip that is too tight.
- Heat near modules : the run close to a module face runs hotter than the pack average, which is why silicone and fluoropolymer take the hottest positions.
- Colour and identification : orange for high voltage is a specification, not a decoration, and it has to survive the service life.
- Service repair : a damaged sleeve on an installed run is a pack-out job unless the sleeve closes over the cable in place.
Technical specification and cross-identification
Every rating below is the published value on the Wellele product page for that item. Component ratings are not system qualifications, and this page does not claim an 800 V system approval for any item.
| Wellele Series-Type | Form | Ratio | Size basis | Reference standards | Cross-identification |

| WLL-PVC-4X | PVC wide-bore tubing, non-electrical duty | ≥4:1.5 | ID Φ12–600 mm | Non-electrical duty | No published cross-reference |
| WLL-ZIP-HS | Wrap-around repair sleeve, zip closure | Heat-shrink | Installed run OD | Confirmed at quotation | No published cross-reference |
Read these as component data, not as a system approval. Wellele does not publish an 800 V or 1000 V system-level qualification for any part on this page. System dielectric duty in a traction pack is a design input owned by your engineering team, and the component is confirmed against your calculation and your test plan. If a supplier offers a blanket high-voltage certification for a sleeve, ask which test backs it and at what conductor geometry.

Engineering questions we are asked
Do you supply sleeving qualified at 800 V system level?
No. We publish component ratings, not a system qualification for 800 V or 1000 V traction systems. System dielectric duty depends on conductor geometry, clearances, whether the path is air or potted and the enclosure, all of which your engineering team owns. We confirm the component against your calculation and your test plan, and we say plainly what evidence exists and what does not.
Can I get the high-voltage orange colour?
Colour is a grade decision rather than a stocked guarantee. Orange is the convention for high-voltage cabling and we quote it on the grades whose compound supports the colour. Phase and circuit identification colours are available on the same terms. Name the colour and the family in the enquiry and we confirm it per grade.
What wall thickness should a 1000 V cable wear?
Start from the mechanical duty rather than the voltage figure alone. The wall has to survive the abrasion and the bend radius at the clips, and the electrical duty is carried by the cable's own insulation plus the clearance your design gives it. Send the cable OD, the clip spacing and the bend radius, and we return the wall and the recovered ID.
Can sleeving be counted as the insulation barrier in a pack?
No. Sleeving is mechanical protection, abrasion resistance and identification. It is additional insulation, not the primary barrier, and treating a sleeve as the sole dielectric layer is a design error we will not support. Where the barrier is thermoset or potted, the sleeve covers what the barrier does not.
Can a damaged sleeve be replaced without dropping the pack?
In some cases, yes. The zipper wrap-around sleeve closes over an installed run and recovers with hot air, so the cable does not have to be disconnected. Confirm the temperature and abrasion duty of the repaired section before relying on it long term, and check that the closure is acceptable to your own process.
