PET Braided Mesh Sleeve
PET Braided Mesh Sleeve is built from PET (polyester) braid. It is a non-shrink sleeve you slip over the part; it stays in place by fit and friction, with no heating step. On the shelf it is held to working range -40℃~+150℃. Buyers spec it for Harness bundling and abrasion protection — the typical call is a sized part that stays put through vibration, thermal cycling and field handling. Below is the spec table, the size matrix we keep in stock, and the selection notes our engineering team uses when a purchaser sends a cable or component drawing.

What it is and how it recovers
PET Braided Mesh Sleeve is a braided or wrapped sleeve that goes on by sliding. It holds by friction and the spring of the weave, so there is no recovery step and no heat. Because the body is PET (polyester) braid, it keeps its insulation and protection through handling and thermal cycling. For procurement this matters: the part you receive is reusable on the bench, but once installed it stays put for the life of the assembly.
Where PET Braided Mesh Sleeve is used
Primary applications: Harness bundling and abrasion protection.
How to select the right size
Specifying PET Braided Mesh Sleeve is mostly about matching three numbers to the part you are covering:
- Recovered vs. supplied diameter. Pick the supplied (expanded) ID at least Non-shrink (elastic)× the object's largest diameter so the sleeve slides on, then confirm the recovered ID grips it. When in doubt, size up one step rather than forcing a tight fit.
- Temperature class. The continuous range is -40℃~+150℃. If the assembly sees brief excursions beyond that, tell us — we will flag a high-temp grade instead of letting the wall soften in service.
- Wall and adhesive. Thin wall for tight harness bundles; medium/thick wall or adhesive-lined (dual-wall) where you need environmental sealing or abrasion resistance. We keep both in stock.
Common Failure Modes & How to Prevent Them
Drawing on field reports and our engineering team's experience, these are the most common issues installers and buyers report when working with PET Braided Mesh Sleeve. Each entry shows the symptom, the root cause, and the fix we recommend on the bench and in the field.
It looks like insulation but isn't
A harness builder warned: "the braid looks like insulation, but it's just a loom."
Root cause: PET braid is an open weave - abrasion and bundling protection, not a dielectric.
Fix: Use it over already-insulated wires for abrasion and ID. Where the circuit needs isolation, keep the wire's insulation and add heat shrink at the joints.
The cut end frays
"Cut it with snips and the braid opens."
Root cause: Any braid unravelled from a cut.
Fix: Cut with a hot knife or melt the end, or use a self-winding sleeve that closes on itself. A sealed end keeps the bundle tidy.
Colour was the only ID
"We used coloured braid for ID and skipped labels."
Root cause: Colour helps but isn't a record; it drifts and confuses over time.
Fix: Use coloured braid for quick ID, but keep a label or drawing too. Colour plus a tag beats colour alone.
We needed repeat access
"The loom was fine until we had to service the harness."
Root cause: A closed braid must be cut to open.
Fix: Where the bundle is serviced, use a Velcro or zipper textile sleeve - it opens and closes without cutting. Split or wrap designs save rework.
Plain PET doesn't shield
"EMI got through the loom."
Root cause: PET braid has no metal path, so it does nothing for interference.
Fix: For EMI, use an aluminium-foil textile sleeve that wraps the bundle in a conductive layer. Pair it with a proper ground path.

Frequently asked questions
What is this sleeve for — bundling, abrasion or both?
PET Braided Mesh Sleeve (PET (polyester) braid) is a flexible protective sleeve for wire harnesses and hose bundles: it tames rat's-nests, hides mismatched wires and adds a cut/abration layer without stiffening the loom.
Expandable or wrap — which do I need?
Expandable braid slides over a pre-assembled harness (no unplugging); wrap/velcro styles open along the length for mid-run additions. Tell us whether you fit it before or after termination.
What temperature can it take (-40℃~+150℃)?
Continuous service is -40℃~+150℃. For engine-bay or exhaust-zone heat, step up to a fiberglass/silicone construction — we keep both.
How is it better than heat-shrink for a harness?
Heat shrink must be threaded on before connectors are fitted and stiffens the run; a sleeve installs afterwards, stays flexible and covers long runs cheaply. Heat shrink is better only where you need a sealed, tight-moulded fit.
Can I get custom cut length and colour?
Yes — custom lengths, colours (including high-vis and zip/velcro closures) are standard for production. Send the bundle OD and run length and we quote.
Does it meet flammability or industry specs?
We supply grades with the relevant flame/smoke ratings on request; tell us the standard your program requires and we match it.
Is PET braid electrical insulation?
No - it is an open-weave loom for abrasion and bundling. Keep the wire's insulation and add heat shrink at joints.
How do I stop the braid fraying?
Hot-knife cut or melt the end, or use a self-winding sleeve that closes on itself.
Which sleeve gives repeat access?
A Velcro or zipper textile sleeve opens and closes without cutting - use it where the bundle is serviced.
Does PET braid block EMI?
Plain PET does not. Use an aluminium-foil textile sleeve for a conductive shield, bonded to ground.
