0.6/1kV Cold Shrink Cable Accessories: LV Kits

No-heat termination and joint kits for 0.6/1kV LV cable: liquid-injection-molded silicone bodies pre-stretched on spiral cores, seated by pulling the core out: no hot-air gun, no torch, no permit for hot work. 2/3/4/5-core formats, indoor and outdoor versions, service range -50℃~+200℃, referenced to IEEE 386.

What cold-shrink does at low voltage

At 0.6/1kV the kit's insulation task is insulation rebuild and moisture sealing over the connection: the same two jobs the LV heat-shrink kits do. Cold-shrink changes how, not what: the silicone body is held pre-stretched on a spiral core until you slide the component into place and pull the core away, at which point the material contracts under its own memory and seats with constant radial pressure. No heat source means the work happens in occupied buildings, tunnels, data halls and other sites where a hot-air gun needs a permit or is simply banned, and the seal quality stops depending on the operator's heating technique: useful when many crews joint many positions across a rollout.

Built for multi-core LV geometry

LV distribution cable runs mostly as 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-core constructions, and the kits are built around that reality: bodies sized over the core bundle, breakout transitions to separate the cores, and outer components that seat over the bundle. This is also why the core count on your order matters. A 4-core set does not cover a 5-core position, because the bundle diameter and the breakout parts are different.

Installation and storage notes

Installation order: prepare and clean the cable per the kit sheet, slide all components on before crimping the connection, make the connection, then position each cold-shrink component exactly and pull its core steadily. The body seats where it is and cannot be repositioned. Storage: kits stay pre-stretched until use, so keep them in original packaging, cool and dry, out of sunlight, and rotate stock first-in-first-out; shelf life and storage limits are being verified for publication.

Frequently asked questions

What does cold-shrink actually buy you at low voltage?

At 0.6/1kV the insulation job itself is simpler than at MV. The value of cold-shrink here is installation, not field grading. No heat tool means terminations and joints can be made in occupied buildings, tunnels, data halls and other sites where a hot-air gun is a permit problem. It also means the seal quality does not depend on the operator's heating technique: the silicone body seats with material-set radial pressure every time, so multi-site rollouts get repeatable results from mixed-skill crews.

How is a 5-core LV position handled without a heat gun?

The 2/3/4/5-core kits are built for the geometry of multi-core LV cable: the bodies are sized over the core bundle, breakout transitions are part of the set, and each component is positioned over the prepared bundle before its core is pulled. Core count changes the parts, not the method: every component installs the same way, by removing the spiral core and letting the silicone seat.

Do these LV kits need stress-control components like the MV cold-shrink kits?

No. Stress control exists to grade the electric field at a screen cut in medium-voltage construction; LV cable at 0.6/1kV does not present that design problem, so these kits spend their component count on insulation rebuild and sealing instead. Any supplier adding 'stress control' to a 0.6/1kV kit is describing parts the voltage does not require.

How should we store the kits before installation?

Cold-shrink parts hold their stretch on removable cores, which makes storage part of the specification: keep kits sealed in original packaging, in a cool dry store out of sunlight, until the day they are used. A pre-stretched body loses recovery force with age, so an expired kit can slide on and still fail to seat with the designed radial pressure: order quantities against your installation schedule rather than banking kits, and confirm current shelf life with us before a slow-moving project.

Which positions and environments is this range built for?

Indoor and outdoor termination versions plus intermediate joint versions, across 2/3/4/5-core LV cable. Typical use is building entrances, panel connections, tunnel and trench jointing, and maintenance work in occupied or flame-restricted sites. For direct-buried or chambered joints that also need mechanical protection, pair the joint with a housing such as our explosion-proof joint box.

What standard do the LV cold-shrink kits reference?

The kits reference IEEE 386. Batch certificates are issued per shipment; tell us the target market (EU / US / Asia / utility spec) and we align the documentation to your filing.
