PVC Heat Shrinkable Tube

PVC Heat Shrinkable Tube is built from PVC (polyvinyl chloride). It ships expanded and recovers to a tight, conforming fit once you apply heat (hot-air gun, 150–250 °C). On the shelf it is held to shrink ratio ≥4:1.5, working range -40℃~+105℃. Buyers spec it for Li-ion pack insulation, component finishing, cable abutment — the typical call is a sized part that stays put through vibration, thermal cycling and field handling. Below is the spec table, the size matrix we keep in stock, and the selection notes our engineering team uses when a purchaser sends a cable or component drawing.

What it is and how it recovers

PVC Heat Shrinkable Tube starts as an expanded tube. The expansion is locked in by cross-linking, so it holds the large diameter until heat is applied and it recovers toward its extruded size. With a ≥4:1.5 ratio you can recover a sleeve roughly ≥4× the recovered diameter, covering both a bare conductor and a bulky connector in one pass. Because the body is PVC (polyvinyl chloride), the recovered wall keeps its dielectric strength and mechanical protection after cooling — it does not relax back. For procurement this matters: the part you receive is reusable on the bench, but once installed it stays put for the life of the assembly.

Primary applications: Li-ion pack insulation, component finishing, cable abutment.

How to select the right size

Specifying PVC Heat Shrinkable Tube is mostly about matching three numbers to the part you are covering:

Send the cable OD, voltage class and environment (indoor, buried, outdoor, chemical) and we return a sized recommendation with the stock code — no need to read the full chart.

Frequently asked questions

What shrink ratio should I choose for PVC Heat Shrinkable Tube?

If the connector or lug is only slightly larger than the wire, a 2:1 ratio is enough. When one sleeve must cover both a bare conductor and a bulky barrel, ask for 3:1 or 4:1 (we stock ≥4:1.5). The rule is: supplied ID ≥ ratio × largest object OD.

Can PVC Heat Shrinkable Tube be used outdoors / buried?

Single-wall polyolefin is fine for indoor harness protection. For outdoor, buried or wet locations specify the adhesive-lined (dual-wall) version — the melt adhesive seals out moisture and resists tracking. Tell us the environment and we point you to the right wall type.

What is the temperature limit of PVC Heat Shrinkable Tube?

Continuous operating range is -40℃~+105℃. Brief excursions above that are possible with the right grade; for sustained high heat we recommend the silicone-fiberglass or fluoropolymer family instead.
